Hoard reflects on currency, the values we attach to objects, and the discovery of treasure. Using clay to create coin-like forms, ring money, and beads, I explore our impulse to constantly accumulate for power, security, and survival. These shapes echo ancient forms of currency inspired by Viking Hoards, which were acquired through brutal conquest only to be buried and lost to time, highlighting society’s complicated relationship with the value of material possessions. The installation becomes a meditation on what we gather and hoard. Through the repetition of these handmade forms, Hoard invites a reflection of what we value and why we cling to it.
